Villarreal 0- Manchester United 0

I think this game deserves a good pat on the back. Obviously after the first half it was obvious to anyone that we were going to be satisfied with a tie. Tieing with anyone like Man United is pretty hard, but we pulled it off. Some minor scares from Ronaldo, Teves (what!?) and Rooney. I think even United’s Fergie was pretty content with the outcome.
There’s a lot of angst and discussion but the end result was alright. We made it to the next round of the Champions League along with Man United. Our Scottish partners lost today with a own goal 2-1. We still have to play another game to see who gets that lovely 1st place spot. Now, to highlights, angst, and some pictures from the match.

You know, if he played clean football, and wasn’t such a fucking uptight asshole I would probably respect Christiano Ronaldo. He has great skill and is a quality striker. However, for all the reasons above point to the fact that he will never be a world class footballer in my book. Your all entitled for your opinions, this is mine.
The reason I’m setting this off as the start of my post is because of the fucking display of sportsmanship. I don’t know about you guys, but I’ve always seen other footballers give a tap on the back of the head or something just to be like, hell, I don’t even know. If anything It’s been a way saying that it was a nice shot or attempt. Sportsmanship, that’s something you need in a footballer. Acting like a little asshole and thinking Ibagaza ruined your hairstyle is just ridiculous. Get over yourself Ronaldo. You can see that little incident right around :09 seconds into the video.

Anyways, back to important stuff that actually matters.
1st Half
Two and two chances. Both for United and Villarreal. Ronaldo had a great shot at goal only to be stopped by the woodwork, and then a decent position in a foul right outside the box. We had only one real chance and that was a blast taken right outside of the box. Pretty nice shot, but Kuszczak seemed pretty up for the challenges we brought him. Sadly our Captain didn’t have his chance to shine in this first half. A couple of good touches, but nothing to spectacular.
2nd Half
Wayne Rooney was the one that made me bite my nails. Not only because he was playing so well, but the fact that his temper was looking to burst. You don’t want to get that skipper mad, believe me.
Now back to the whole sportsmanship deal. It works both ways you know. Capdevila’s challenge on Ronaldo probably has everyone cheering or faceplaming. Now I did a little of both, but this is no way to get back at some cocky player. Poor challenge overall and I think the referee actually did a good call on this one. No where near the ball, easy decision. Yeah, that goes against my club but hey, you have to play fair football.

This tie against the Red Devils should help in the confidence meter. We play Recreativo Huelva on Sunday. Last place in La Liga with 1 win, 4 ties and 7 losses. Shouldn’t be to hard for us, right guys? Now onto some pictures from the match today.
