Transfers..and Senna actually being intrested in..Manchester City?
By: Javier | December 30th, 2008
So tomorrow is New Years eve, and I’m stuck being sick. I hope you all had a good Christmas to all that celebrated it. As well as a good Boxing day. Anyways, I figured to look hardcore in the news for the January transfer window and Villarreal’s action in it. The nonsense with Senna being actually interested in City will also be discussed here. I have a couple of idea of what we could need, and what we don’t need. So lets get started on my idea for the team and what we really could use..
Defenders.
The past goals we’ve conceded has been due to a weak defense. I’m a strong believer that Capdevilla is our best defender. The mans got skill when he plays and rarely gives opportunities to the opposing team. Venta is the other defender I support in keeping in the starting XI. However, the other two men in our 4-4-2 formation or even 4-3-3 usually lacks in their position.
Apparently I’m not the only one to notice the gap in our defense. This Sky Sports article talks about Thiago Silva being a new addition to our side. The Dynamo defender has helped Brazil win several games, and has some impressive skills.
The real action starts around 1:44. Not bad, not bad at all.
If you guys have heard anything that I haven’t posted about the transfer windows, please shoot by a comment with a link. Even if its just a rumor or whatever, I’m always up for a read.
Now the whole Senna to Manchester City talk. “I have heard about the big project at City and I’m flattered by their interest,”. Yes, Senna is world class, he is after all our Captain of the Yellow Submarines. City’s theory is that if they buy good players they will win the Premiere League, or even the Champions League (UEFA Cup as of right now). I suppose on paper that’s true, but football is more then just grabbing a bunch of skilled players. The Club is about the fans and the players feelings towards the club.
I think we’ve been good to Senna here at Villarreal, and I’m somewhat saddened for him to even consider the deal. Maybe he isn’t and is just saying he need some unGodly amount of money and something else to make him move.
“If we get a big offer we would consider it.”
I guess it might just be me thinking we need this guy. Yeah, hes getting a bit slow, and can’t play the full 90, but goddamn hes still a world class player. He’s done great work this season, the goal against Atletico is a great example of his power and skill.
Whatever, we’ll see what happens. Hopefully Pellegrini will see the wrong doing in giving Senna to City.
La Liga
We take on Real Madrid at the Bernabéu. Seeing how we’ve been playing, I think this will end up in a tie. I’ll write a more in depth preview later, but I don’t see that much of a goal fest in this game. Should be decent though.
Vamos Villarreal!

The thing that sucks about football is that there’s now a ton of money involved, so even if the player enjoys his stay at a particular club, there are times when money can trump that.
I hope he stays there, though. He’s reaching his later years but he’s still doing a great job and he’s really contributing a lot to the team.
Good luck with Madrid! You guys should try to get more than one point.

Have to agree with you, Senna’s presence on and off the field is key to this club and I would be sad to see him go

If we get a big deal, we should let him go. I love Senna as much as anyone, but his best days are past.

Source? I know they’re interested in him but I don’t know of any official deals.Kenny- My view on Senna is on level with The Special One and OhYes. I don’t really see any deal that I’d be ok with in seeing the lad go. Yeah he’s not at the top of his level, but hes still got some skill in him. We’ll see what happens. I’m just worried if we let him go, who will replace him in the center mid? I don’t know of many midfielders going on the transfer window..

Kenny: Of course his best days are beyond him. The question is if his good or at least decent days have past and I don’t think so. He still has a couple of good years left before we start to see a big decrease in the quality of his football due to his age.
The only thing that would worry me about him is injury.
