Celtic FC 2- Villarreal 0

By: Javier | December 10th, 2008

Yeah, not exactly 6 goals like how I was going on saying, but it was a interesting game at the least. Half of Villarreal B was out in the pitch playing some decent football at Celtic Park.
I can’t really stress this enough, but we pretty much got swept. Yeah, we didn’t put out our full head on squad and it showed.
Maloney’s goal was just a simple but nice header to the back of the net. Could of been avoiding if Viera grabbed that sucker.
Good ol McGeady shot one right into the lower corner. Not even lifted, just dragged alongside the pitch into the net. Great power and strike, aka, perfect.
Highlights:

So now Franco is out for the next fixture in the Champions League due to his careless Red Card. I’ll be honest with you, I didn’t see the actual play. I was to busy trying to get the damn stream to reload half the time. If any of you can comment on the ref and the play well, that would be just dandy! From here we’ll move on to the next stages, and end up finishing in 2nd place for our group. Not bad Villarreal, not bad.

EDIT:

OK I JUST FOUND THE FULL VIDEO/HIGHLIGHTS. http://www.footyfilms.com/musicvideo.php?vid=4bbe4d390

And I have to say. WHAT THE HELL WAS HE RED CARDED FOR? I was watching this over and over again. Hell even the Celtic players are confused as hell. For the love of God someone tell me what happened *investigates*
La Liga
Sunday, we play 4th place Sevilla. These guys shouldn’t be messed with, and I am very happy to see most of our players fit for the match. Not only are we away, but they’ve been on fire. Their last game with R.Madrid was quite excellent if I do say so myself. With this said, we will need all the motivation and determination to win this one.
Not only do we have Sevilla this week, but Barcelona NEXT week and Real Madrid the week after. Its going to be hell for us. HOWEVER, I think we’ll be able to take on Barcelona. Especially since they have El Clásico before facing us. Not only will they be exhausted but they should be somewhat powered down from this intense match. Even if they score 4-0, they’ll be mentally tired. El Clásico is a epic game. I still remember the 3-3 game that got my loving this sport….good times…anyways.
So thats Barcelona handled. Now, Madrid. They have Van The Man out in injury, and also have a fourth of their squad injured as well. I’m a little less nervous with this side then Barca of course. If we play well, we should could pick up 9 points right there.
We need this win against Sevilla, not only to prove it to ourselfs but to everyone else that we can handle to two giants of Spain.
Vamos Villarreal!!

Should be a good match on Sunday and whoever takes the lead will win it because both of our defenses are solid. I predict a low scoreline maybe 1-0 or 2-1 going either way. I’d like to think this is going to be an easy match for us, but it’s a tricky fixture, on any given day either of us could blowout the other team. Goodluck though, I highly respect Villareal, so it should be an amazing match.
